Misadventures

Scott and I love to go on adventures. We love to share the pictures and stories with you. If you only looked at our pictures you might think that everything always goes according to plan, nothing ever goes wrong. This of course is never true. And while we’ve mostly avoided major catastrophes, it’s not unusual to have minor mishaps.

Here are a few we’ve experienced.

  • One year we headed out camping pulling our new trailer and halfway up Eli Hill, the transmission gave out on our truck.

  • A motel we reserved ended up being so bad it’s now the joke….well it couldn’t possibly be as bad as……

  • One time the engine of our car caught on fire on our way somewhere. Fortunately we had a fire extinguisher in the car.

  • Our air conditioning stopped working in stop and go traffic and 90 degree temps

  • We’ve had a flat tire or two

  • The water tank fell out of the bottom of our former trailer (only 2 blocks from home thankfully)

  • We had a small fender bender

  • We got our car stuck in the sand

  • We went to go see waterfalls to find the access road was still gated off

  • A whale watching trip resulted in sea sickness

  • We returned from a hike to find our car battery dead

  • The weather forecast was good, but forest fire smoak filled the sky

  • Camping without air conditioning in 90 degree temps

  • Losing my phone that also contained my drivers license and debit card (we found it later!)

  • A kidney stone attack (Scott) on a camping trip

  • Swarms of mosquitoes

  • Freezing on the back of a motorcycle a long way from home without enough warm clothing

  • Getting the worst migraine of my life while tent camping

  • Sharing a tent with our dog who was sick all night (she ended up being okay)

  • Getting up very early for a sunrise to find complete cloud cover and no sun

  • Being parked on Snoqualmie Pass for hours while an accident was being cleared

Mishaps happen. Sometimes we pivot and find something else to do. Sometimes we wait it out. Other times we call it a day.

What mishaps have you had?
