Labor Day Weekend – the Unofficial End of Summer
Welcome to the last weekend of summer - unofficially. I hope you have found your summer to be satisfying in the way you needed it to be. If not – I hope you are giving yourself grace knowing that circumstances are often out of our control.
The highlights of my summer include a couple of sleep overs with my granddaughters, camping on the beach, a day at the lake where I got to spend an entire day with a book outside of cell phone range, listening to baseball games as I work in my garden, picking fresh produce from my garden when I return from a morning run, and hiking to an awesome viewpoint.
There are always things I don’t get to and that’s okay. Some things I may be able to still do next month. Others may need to wait for another year. Such is life. But with one last weekend to go Scott and I will join the throngs of people in search of a camping spot.
The plan is to head for the Greenwater area and the many attractions it provides. We can choose from Sun Top Lookout, Kelly Butte, Goat Creek, Tipsoo Lake, Naches Loop, Sunrise Visitor Center at Mount Rainier, Silver Falls, and Wapiti Outdoors. For starters. If it’s clear, we’ll get a good look at the stars too. We have a propane firepit, so marshmallows are always an option – even with a burn ban.
We may have another month of decent weather but where we live you never know. Sometimes it starts raining Labor Day Weekend and doesn’t stop until after the 4th of July next year. So, we’ll make the most of this weekend and consider anything from there on out a bonus.
On to the next season. On to the next adventure.
