A Trip to Titlow Beach
Sometimes we don’t have time for a day trip. Life happens. We can’t play ALL of the time. But we still like to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Even if it’s close to home. This was one of those times.
The weather ap on my phone said the clouds were going to clear. Maybe they would. Maybe they wouldn’t. Either way Scott and I needed to get out of the house for a while, so we decided to head out for the park. We spied a little clearing toward the westside and headed for Titlow Park.
Titlow Park is a great park on the west side of Tacoma. It has views of the Puget Sound and the Narrows Bridges, trails wandering through the woods, a large playground for kids, and even a splash park in the summer. It’s an awesome place to watch the sunset.
It was still cloudy when we arrived, but we went over to the water to look for seals and birds. We soon saw sun beams peeking through the clouds and the horizon began to clear. It was turning into a beautiful night. So, we decided to stroll down the trail a bit to see what we would see.
Eventually we came to the clearing at the end to discover the gorgeous view of the narrows bridges and masses of blooming sweet peas. I knew there was a view of the bridges here, but the sweet peas were a wonderful surprise. The lighting and the view were perfect. We quickly had our cameras out.
The clouds continued to clear, and the water calmed and became more reflective. The bumble bees buzzed from flower to flower. And we enjoyed the view. You never know what you will find when you venture out.
It was a wonderful way to spend a summer evening.
